Canada West Veterinary Specialists and Critical Care Hospital ( CWVS ) opened in 1997 under the name Animal Critical Care Group. Since that time, our practice has grown to become the largest, private veterinary specialist referral hospital in Canada.
In June 2005, the Animal Critical Care Group became Canada West Veterinary Specialists and Critical Care Hospital and the hospital moved from its original 6000 square foot building to a 17,000 square foot facility located centrally in Greater Vancouver. The new hospital and our dedicated team of Specialists, Animal Health Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and support staff enable us to provide our patients with excellence in healthcare 24 hours a day.

In addition, we have six Hospitalists (non-specialist doctors of veterinary medicine) who, with our Veterinary Technicians and Assistants, provide overnight care for in-hospital patients. With four surgical suites, two color Doppler ultrasounds, an in-hospital CT scanner and MRI, and our own laboratory located on-site, CWVS offers a broad range of specialist services to patients who live throughout western Canada and the northwestern United States.
Canada West Veterinary Specialists and Critical Care Hospital values our close professional relationship with family veterinarians who refer their clients to us for specialty veterinary services and diagnostics. We function solely as a specialty referral practice and accept only patients who have been referred to us by their family veterinarians.
HOURS OF OPERATION:
Although we are a 24 hr. critical care hospital, our hours available to clients are:
Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m.– 8 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m.– 8:00 p.m.
Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
*Clients needing to reach us are asked to call during the hours listed above.
APPOINTMENTS:
All of our clients are seen on a referral basis. Once we receive the referral information from your family veterinarian, we will call you to make an appointment for your pet.
